hi all, this' my first post! hope u ppl have enjoyed ur christmas through the heavy rain~! do share your christmas experiences with everyone!

for me, i was stuck in the office during christmas eve and stayed at home all day during christmas and the day after christmas (today) thanks to the heavy rain. lol. oh well, i've been listening to music at home all day via my setup below:


i tell you, it really pays to spend a bit on audio equipment. previously, i used to listen to all those pop/band music via cheapo $40 earphones, and till few months back, i took the plunge and invested my savings in a pair of Westone UM1s in-ear monitors, and a portable amp. the first thing that struck me was that background noise was effectively reduced to zero while the earphones were plugged in and music was being played. no more turning the volume all the way up to the max while on the bus or on busy streets, which poses a risk of damaging your ears. all it needs is for the volume to be turned up to 10~20% and you can enjoy the music without external distractions. =D

the next thing tht you'll definitely notice is that the bass, mids and highs of the music you're listening to comes through better, and the music is more enjoyable. unlike cheap earphones where u can only hear only the vocalist with some background accompliment, you can now hear almost all the details of the music. take classical music for example. previously, i used to hear only the main melody, and unable to hear instruments like the bass and percussion. now, i can hear almost every instrument with high level of details and clarity. (i've been listening to past dhssb songs and the basses always seem to intrigue me!) also, for vocalist music, i can even detect whether that saxaphone is slightly to the left or to the right of the singer, etcetc.

so, for all of you out there who are keen to enjoy great music, do contact me online on MSN! why bother spending so much money on CDs when you can't get the most out of them with cheap earphones? =P

eh people. since tedrid suggested a walking trip, lets organise a walking trip. its definitely the cheapest. we can walk from pasir ris mrt to boon lay mrt in one day. then we can limit ourselves to the money spent on food. then basses will really be united cos everybody has to wait for each other. then right, it will allow us to bond as a section together. SERIOUS.

two of my classmates tried the above mentioned feat and completed it in 16 hours. so if we try as a big group, it might take 20 hours. so yeah, it's not a bad idea right? we might even meet santa claus you know!

ok, merry merry xmas. let's all go hang out our stockings by the bedside!

A Fitting Present

A little boy was somewhat perplexed by all the exchanging of presents on Christmas morning, for he had been taught in Sunday school that it wasthe birthday of the Saviour. Finally, after a long period of silence, he asked, "Mommy, when are we going to give Jesus His present? I thought it was His birthday!"

Strange isn't it, that most of us give gifts to everyone but the One whose birthday we celebrate. A good question we might ask ourselves is this: What am I going to give to the Lord Jesus this Christmas? If you have never trusted in Him as your Saviour, the thing He desires most from you is a believing heart. Why not put your faith in Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross so you canbe saved from your sins?

If by faith you already know Christ as your Saviour, then the most wonderful thing you can do this Christmas is to present to God the one gift He most desires to receive from you --- your body (Romans 12:1)

Our bodies are to be used for God's purposes. Because we have accepted the gift of salvation from Him, it's only reasonable that we should present ourselves to the Father. When we give ourselves, we give the one Christmas present thattruly fits the occasion! ---Richard De Haan

Hello. Xiao You here.
Anyway I think it's pretty hard to organise an outing now because,
firstly, many of you have not emailed me yet =( I think I'll remind you all this thursday cause apparently not all basses people come online regularly;
secondly, we are torn between ice skating and watching movie and now we have come up with more choices like kite-flying etc.

But basically I think suggestions about going marina bay etc is quite a good idea?
So maybe we should consider other more affordable activities like:
1) kite-flying
2) picnic
3) cycling

Oh well these are just suggestions so if you all want then just say if not we stick to watching movie or something.

hey. ice skating is expensive andwatching movie does not bond. so it would be nice if you can consider a few activities all at marina bay area.
- kite flying (kites are cheap and we can group ourselves to fly kites to promote bonding)
- eating steamboat at marina bay
- anything else taht is possible to be done there

on different occassions when we have a lot of picturres, we shall put all together and form a collage! then in years to come we will have a lot of basses collage! wont that be cool? haha.

okay yeah i can help with the collage since i have photoshop cs2 and macromedia fireworks yeah. okay give your opinions about it okay! VOICE OUTTTTTTTTT! :D

Hello! This post is regarding the basses outing. So here it goes..

Please send your reply to my email.

1) Can you all tell me on which dates are you all free? If possible try to be more specific.. and give a few dates rather than just one..

2) As for the activity we are doing.. most people seem to be voting for movie, so I guess we'll be going for movie (unless somebody objects violently to that). Can you all also suggest a movie, or a few movies that you all want or don't mind watching?

3) A lot of people also seem to want ice-skating.. the main thing why ppl want it is because we can bond. Then the main reason why people don't want it is because it's quite ex. What I am thinking is that we can have two outings. One for movie and one for ice skating. Then the second outing can be during early next year. But that is just my suggestion. Then if you have any comments/suggestions can tell me, too, like if you really don't like ice skating..

Erm the reason why I want you all to send the reply to my email is because, last time we always sms or just pass the message around by mouth. But that doesn't seem to be very effective nor efficient ( and waste of sms, too!).. then every time some people may not get the message.. then in the end there'll always be very little people turning up, which is quite sad. And don't just sms me your reply or tell me msn.. cause email will be clearer and neater. Then I can kinda "collate" the results. So hopefully this time we can have a more complete outing with more ppl going.. so please go!

4) This is not about the basses outing, it is about the basses contact list quite a lot of us have been wanting. Last time Wen Xiu created one.. but now must update le. So can give me your contact numbers? Handphone number and/or house number. And also your house address, plus your emails and birthdays if they are not on the blog. Err, if you don't wanna give your house address then it's okay, too.

When the contact list is done we'll save it in the basses gmail account. Then you all can choose if you want to print it out. And one advantage of that is that the next time when we need to update stuff we don't have to type out everything again:)

P.S We know that there's already a basses gmail account. But it's quite dead and not everyone knows about it. This explains for the new one.

5) As for the Basses blog and gmail account particulars, you all can ask either Xintian or me for it. But remember not to divulge to the non-basses people. Haha!

6) Please keep tagging and posting on the basses blog! Anyone in basses can edit stuff in the blog.. but please tell Xintian or me beforehand, so that we won't get a shock when we see this blog. Lol :D (but you don't have to tell us when you post)

7) As for the gmail account, anyone in basses can use it, too. And I think we should find ways to keep it alive. I guess we can upload more stuff in it. Like photos of basses or dhssb. So that everyone in basses can access these photos. Any suggestions?

8) Anyone who have any suggestions or comments about anything can bring it up. Maybe post it up on this blog or email everyone about it. =D

9) Last but not least, please REPLY to this post by emailing me. Asap. And spread the content of this message to other basses people, too!

Oh yar.. I want basses outing but I don't like movie!! Movie cannot BOND and cannot interact cause everyone can only just sit there and watch. Besides, the purpose of a basses outing is to BOND right? Haha so we should vote for ice skating instead. Lol.
